The Berlin-based duo produce an extraordinary and prolific output of primary-coloured, screenprint-style works that draw from their shared love in a carefully balanced world they’ve created for themselves. The characterful confidence of their distinctly European looking illustration has been recognised widely and appears in such print behemoths as The New York Times and DIE ZEIT, and their latest offering for London publishers NoBrow sees them complete a staggering panoramic history of aviation, from Icarus to jet aircraft. Designed by the architect trio, Saad El Kabbaj, Driss Kettani & Mohamed Amine Siana; the minimal and modern Technology School of Guelmin in Morocco consists of spaces such as workshops, a library, laboratories, administrative buildings and much more. This school is a veritable display of modern African infrastructure while maintaining traditional Moroccan flair to create a view that is nothing short of spectacular!
Although modern in style, the school aesthetically pulls on traditional North African design elements that have been around for centuries. The designers skillfully played with orientations, projections, openness and lighting to create an environment both suitable for learning as well as meditating. They say a rested mind can improve productivity. Let’s hope its pensive spaces will help enlighten the innovators of tomorrow._source:artiflect

Artworks with LEGO by the self-described "brick artist" Nathan Sawaya

Self-described "brick artist" Nathan Sawaya is known for his incredible art pieces constructed with LEGO. Sawaya was a New York City lawyer until 2004, when he made the courageous decision to make art his profession, even while saddled with $100,000 in debt from student loans. Now that his intricate pieces have garnered attention from clients worldwide, including Donald Trump and Bill Clinton, Sawaya spends six figures on LEGO pieces annually. Some of his large-scale works — such as a six-foot-tall Han Solo frozen in carbonite  and a Tyrannosaurus rex skeleton twenty feet in length — require as many as 80,000 LEGO pieces. text via:Neatorama

Artworks with LEGO / Mr Bones  by Nathan Sawaya
''I was honored to be one of the artists selected to provide their own take on Mr. Bones for a recent Kiehl’s charity event. The event raised thousands of dollars for my charity of choice: the Thea Foundation. For my version, I wanted Mr. Bones to be building a skin of bricks around his bare bones. I figured he needed “skin” to put all his new Kiehl’s products on.'' Here is a rough video of the building attempt:

Sawaya’s ability to transform this common toy into something meaningful, his devotion to spatial perfection and the way he conceptualizes action, enables him to elevate what almost every child has played with into the status of fine art.
“These works are very personal to me, since they reflect my growth as an artist as I strove to discover my creative identity,” said Sawaya. source:http://brickartist.com/
